Why should we eat to lose weight?

1. Protein
Protein is a major component of the human body that helps build muscle mass and organs. A protein-rich diet is necessary to maintain good health, prevent illness, and promote healing. There are different types of proteins including red meats, poultry, fish, legumes, nuts, eggs, dairy products, soybeans, etc. All these foods have high amounts of protein and are known to help us burn fat faster than any other food.
2. Fats
Fats are great for us to use as fuel since they are easily digested and provide our bodies with energy. Most fats are solid at room temperature and consist of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids. Saturated fats are stable and do not change their size; however, when heated, they melt due to the formation of chains. Unsaturated fatty acids tend to move around while maintaining their size. These fatty acids are found in butter, cheese, milk, beef, pork, chicken, and coconut oil.

3. Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates are simple sugars that give us energy after eating them. Commonly referred to as “carbs”, they are stored in muscles in the form of glycogen. When we run out of carbs in our muscles, we start burning fat instead. Carbs are found in bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, fruits, vegetables, beans, and grains.
4. Fiber
Fiber contains many vitamins and minerals that keep us regular and make sure that our intestinal tract works properly. It is also known to lower cholesterol and blood pressure levels.
5. Water
Water keeps the body hydrated and regulates its internal environment. We need water to remove toxins from our system and regulate the amount of fluid inside our cells. Water also helps flush out the dead cells in our body which makes way for new ones to replace old ones. Drinking enough water increases the efficiency of our digestive system, boosts immunity, and helps us stay focused and alert.
